The Lion…
The etymology of the name “Archibald” is genuine and bold. It symbolizes the lion-heart, boldly going where others fear to tread. It embodies all that this business stands for. It also happens to be the name of one of the most beloved and significant characters in my life, my “Hatter”. Archie Astrology was founded in 2019, in honor of my grandfather, the man responsible for my witchy inclinations and questioning nature. I am eternally grateful for his unconditional love, for believing in me when no one else did, and for giving me the courage to step away from the crowd and stand alone–the courage to clear a new and better path. The work I do here is in remembrance and in honor of Archie.
The Witch…
Marcie Clark is a rogue astrologer refusing to embrace rhetoric that consistently fails in practice. She marries the wisdom of the ancients with the breakthroughs of the present, always questioning and assessing to ensure sound methodologies. She strives for precision in language and technique, updating the vernacular while restoring long-lost ancient principles, knowing that outdated language and misinterpreted concepts are barriers to utilizing this most efficient and powerful tool. The result is a pioneering and empowering practice, organically morphing closer and closer to perfection with each new epiphany and revelation. She desires to make her signature method available to all, easily accessible, in order for astrology to perform the function of its original intent—-to free humanity from a destiny of servitude.
In her spare time, you can find her hanging out at her favorite bookshop, Albertine; having lunch with the Hatter in Central Park; or strolling one of the city’s many historic hidden gems with a tattered, coffee-stained, dog-eared copy of Kiki Strike tucked underneath her arm. Shout out to Kirsten Miller.
And the Wardrobe.
How we got here…
Greetings and salutations superheroes,
I have been doing a deep dive into astrology for over 40 years. And yet, I didn’t give my first professional reading until I was 49 years old and 33 years into my quest. Why? It didn’t work! If following the modern rhetoric produced no results for me, why would I advise someone else to follow it? Oh it seemed to apply some of the time, but far from all of the time, and that just isn’t good enough. And oh my, when it doesn’t work but your committed to making it work, the years it can take from you. Despite the fact that it wasn’t working, Urania had sunk her nails into me–to say I had a compulsion was an understatement. I dug deeper, while I should have been doing the dishes, and learning a real skill that could propel my muggle career, cursing myself all the while for squandering my own precious time. I sought out the most obscure astrologers who were versed in the most obscure topics, continued to push farther back in time, scoured the inter-webs for out-of-print books and anything concerning the practices of the ancient Chaldean’s, Babylonian’s, and Sumerian’s. And then in pure Jupiter fashion, I questioned. I questioned all of it, jockeying for a view of every possible angle. In 2017, I found the secret door at the back of the wardrobe. My birth chart became a magical wonderland. It contained an epic journey filled with magical people and legendary places. It became everything that modern astrology promises and so much more. I finally had the tools I needed to guide others on their own heroic quest. I could confidently give an empowering reading. Spoiler alert, we are doing it wrong! Since 2017, I have had the satisfaction of guiding people to remembering the actionable steps needed to materialize their dreams, and watching those same people thrive and shine while taking those steps.
